Hastelloy X (UNS NO6002)

 

Hastelloy X features and application field overview:

The alloy is a nickel base superalloy with high iron content strengthened mainly by solid solution of chromium and molybdenum. It has good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. It has medium to durable and creep strength under 900ºC. It is suitable for the manufacture of combustion chamber parts and other high-temperature parts of aero-engine. It can be used for a long time below 900ºC and its short-time working temperature can reach 1080ºC.

   Metallographic structure:

 

The structure of the alloy in the solid solution state is austenitic matrix with a small amount of TiN and M6C carbide.

 

Process performance and requirements:

 

1. The alloy has good cold and hot working performance, and the forging heating temperature is 1170ºC.

2. The average grain size of the alloy is closely related to the deformation degree and final forging temperature of the forging piece.

3, the alloy has a satisfactory welding performance, can be used for argon arc welding, seam welding, spot welding and other methods.

4. The alloy can be directly added to the furnace which has been heated to the highest working temperature. After the necessary time for heat preservation, it shall be taken out of the oven and processed to the specified specifications. Reheat the metal if the temperature drops below the minimum processing temperature.

5. The surface oxide of the alloy and the welding slag around the weld are more adherent than stainless steel, so it is recommended to use fine grain sand belt or fine grain grinding wheel for grinding.
