Bimetallic alloy,it is a kind of precision alloy bonding by two or more different expansion coefficients metal or alloy, whose shape changes at changing temperature.
One component layer in the thermal bimetal has a low coefficient of thermal expansion called passive layer; the other component layer has a high coefficient of thermal expansion called active layer. Sometimes, in order to get the thermal bimetal with special properties, a third or fourth layer of metal or alloy may be added.
Generally, the passive layer is made of Invar alloy containing 34% to 50% of Ni; the active layer is made of brass, nickel, Fe-Ni-Cr, Fe-Ni-Mn and Mn-Ni-Cu alloy. Different types of thermal bimetal can be obtained by different combinations of active layer and passive layer materials, such as high temperature type, medium temperature type, low temperature type, high sensitivity type, corrosion resistant type, resistance type and quick action type.

Application: The material is mainly in automatic control devices and instrumentation (eg: exhaust thermometers, thermostats, voltage regulators, temperature relay, automatic protection switching, diaphragm meters, etc.) make temperature control, temperature compensation, current limit, temperature indicator and other heat-sensitive components.
Feature: The basic characteristics of Thermostat Bimetallic is bending deformation with temperature changes, resulting in a certain moment.
Thermostat Bimetallic Strip expansion coefficient is different from the two or more layers of metal or alloy along the entire contact surface firmly bonded, having a temperature-dependent shape change occurs thermosensitive functional composites. Wherein the higher expansion coefficient of the active layer is a layer called a low coefficient of expansion of the layer is named passive layer.
